Monasteries, churches, and chapels dot the island’s mountains. It is said that there was once one chapel which celebrated for each day of the year. If you're lucky, you may witness one of their festive celebrations. Organized hiking trails and digital apps make exploring the lush green mountains easy and enjoyable. Don’t miss a trip to the Kastro, the medieval settlement on the northern cliffs built to protect the locals from pirates. There you’ll also find at least three Byzantine monasteries: Panagia Eikonistria (patron saint of the island), Panagia Kounistra and Panagia Evangelistria, the latter still active and home to the island’s only museum—where the first Greek flag was sewn!

Walking through the village is a pleasure—wander the cobblestone streets, discover hidden corners, feel the island’s charm, visit the house of Papadiamantis, Greece’s greatest short-story writer, explore an authentic traditional Skiathian house at the local folklore museum, and enjoy shopping along the main Papadiamanti Street. At EGA, you'll find unique gifts for you and your friends, as reminders of your wonderful journey.
